John Doherty
John Doherty joined the KP team in 2024. Prior to joining KP Public Affairs, Doherty was the principal of Doherty Law Group. He has over 20 years of experience in state and local policy and politics, including serving as Chief of Staff to Assembly Majority Leader Alberto Torrico for his entire term; serving as Vice President of Government Affairs for United Health Group, a Fortune 10 company specializing in healthcare; serving as General Counsel for TechNet, an association of the world’s largest technology companies; and serving as CEO of the Civil Justice Association of California.

Over the course of his 20 years in state and local politics, Doherty effectively managed clients across a broad spectrum of forums. He has strong relationships with the current administration, the Department of Insurance, the Attorney General’s Office, as well as legislative leadership.

Pro bono work for the non-profit Law Foundation of Silicon Valley, advocating for mental health and youth funding.
